Right, let's get a new vehicle added to your fleet. It's quick, and DDIR pulls the heavy lifting from DVLA.
Getting Your Vehicle into the System
- From the sidebar, click Vehicles.
- In the new window that opens, enter the Vehicle Registration number.
- Click Add Vehicle from DVLA.
Nothing to it. The system will then talk directly to the DVLA and DVSA databases, pulling in all the essential details. You'll immediately see the MOT, VED, and Manufacturer Recall Status for that vehicle.
Once It's In: What Else You Need to Know
While you're in the Vehicles menu, there are a few other critical buttons to get familiar with:
* View: This button gives you the full picture. Click it, and you'll get a comprehensive breakdown of all the vehicle's data. It's all there, neatly organised. * Edit: Heads up — this is crucial for getting the vehicle fully set up in DDIR. 1. Click Edit. 2. A new window will open at the bottom of your screen. You might need to scroll down if you have a lot of vehicles already listed. 3. In this window, you must specify the Vehicle Type (e.g., HGV Rigid, HGV Tractor, Minibus). 4. You also must set the PMI Frequency for this particular vehicle. That's it for the essentials. * Fuel: This is where you track your vehicle's fuel usage – we're talking Diesel and AdBlue – and see the correlation. Just a quick note: this data is most accurate if your drivers are diligent about logging their fuel and AdBlue top-ups using their driver app. You can also manually input any historic fuel values in the bottom section if needed. * Archive: When a vehicle leaves your fleet, you don't just delete it. Use the Archive button. It neatly tucks the vehicle away, keeping all its data intact. You can still view archived vehicles by clicking Show Archive, and all that historical data remains exactly where it should be for audit purposes. Fire prevention beats fire fighting, right?
After you've added the vehicle, the next logical step is to set up a driver checklist for it. Just ask, and I'll walk you through that process too.
Keeping your fleet compliant is a breeze when DDIR handles the heavy lifting for you.
